Is this a New Planet?

The answer to the title is NO. These images are from a project entitled “Devour” by Christopher Jonassen, which displays pictures of the bottom of worn-out frying pans.

Hah!

unforced rhythms

Addressing the slicing off of a slave’s ear after Judas’ betrayal of Jesus:

Trying to protect Jesus, Peter pulled a sword and wounded the high priest’s slave. But Jesus told Peter to put away his sword and allow God’s plan to unfold. At times it is tempting to take matters into our own hands, to force the issue. Instead, we must trust God to work out his plan. Think of it—if Peter had had his way, Jesus would not have gone to the cross and God’s plan of redemption would’ve been thwarted.

Peter’s heart was in the right place. He knew who Jesus was and followed him with fervor and dedication. Yet, he wasn’t able to comprehend God’s plans and acted rashly.

When I posted my previous blurb, I was drowning in anxiety. Within the span of about a week, I had researched and started applications to a handful of different jobs. I’m now realizing that my stress may be a product of my haste and impulsivenss. I’m trying to rush God’s plans, thus I’m stressing and still going nowhere. I need to replace my impatience and my need for control with an all-consuming faith. I need to trust that I’m surfing on his unforced rhythms of grace and when things are ready, the waves will come.

God told me July/August for this trip, but maybe I need to wait till then to start my searching and applying. I won’t allow myself to stress anymore and I won’t push as hard as I’ve been pushing. I know his designs are greater than mine and if I’m to wait a few months, I can learn patience. I’m glad he didn’t allow Peter to stop His plans; I guess I need to be glad he’s not allowing me to stop them either

Top Ten Infrared Space Pictures

1. Helix Nebula. A newly expanded image of the Helix Nebula (pictured) is one of the ten infrared pictures chosen by scientists to celebrate the thousand days that the Spitzer Space Telescope has been working past its retirement date. Image courtesy J. Hora, HSCfA, W. Latter, Herschel, and Caltech/NASA

2. Mountains of Creation. An infrared photograph of the star-forming region W5, aka the Mountains of Creation (pictured), was taken before Spitzer’s coolant ran out. Image courtesy L. Allen, HSCfA, and Caltech/NASA

3. See-Through Sombrero. At visible wavelengths, the Sombrero galaxy is a fuzzy white ball encircled by a black-rimmed ring of dust. Yet in infrared (pictured), the dust glows with splendor. Image courtesy R. Kennicutt, U. Arizona, and Caltech/NASA

4. Cygnus Constellation. This close-up of the Cygnus constellation was the very first picture taken after Spitzer ran out of coolant in 2009. Image courtesy Caltech/NASA

5. Trifid Nebula. One of the more striking objects in the visible-light sky is the Trifid Nebula.Image courtesy J. Rho, SSC/Caltech/NASA

6. Ancient Galaxies. Spitzer is widely known for its see-through views of nebulae, the Milky Way, and nearby galaxies, but it was also designed to peer back in time-possible because of the time it takes light to travel from distant objects to reach Earth. Image Courtesy Spitzer Space Telescope

Job applications

I have six of them half filled out. They make me so nervous and anxious.

Truth of the matter is: there are people out there way more qualified than me and I’m afraid to be told that I am inadequate. Especially because I want this so badly. I’m afraid that the big companies will reaffirm what I believe about myself—that I’m going write 15 cover letters and send my resume to all corners of the earth and hear back from no one—because no one wants me.

So faith is all I’m running on. It’s the only thing fueling these fingers to keep tapping on these keys. It’s time to suck it up and grow a pair because Jesus has my back. Pray for me.

pinky promise

“Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” MARK11:22-25

The Bible wrecks me.
